Evaluation of sporicidal and fungicidal activity of disinfectants on the basis of active oxygen

We studied the fungicidal and sporicidal activity of the dry wipes for decontamination. Active substance of the wipes are peroxosolvates of potassium and ammonium. We analyzed disinfection properties of the wipes against fungi (Aspergillus sudowii Thom et Church VKM F-4037 D; Paecilomyces variotii Bainier VKM F-4039 D) and spores of bacteria (Bacillus cereus, var. аnthracoides, strain 250). Was used modes of single and fractional treatment with the exposure of 60 min. The results indicate the decrease in concentration of microorganisms after treatment at 4 to 5 orders of magnitude.
Key words: peroxosolvate, fungicidal activity sporicidal activity, decontamination.

Metal oxide nanoparticles as potential components of the disinfecting compositions

The article presents the results of a comparative study of bactericidal and sporicidal activities of stable aqueous colloidal solutions of nanoparticles of titanium oxides, tantalum and zinc, disinfectant Catamine AB and their combinations in the disinfectant compositions against the test microorganisms Escherichia coli C 600, Yersinia pestis EV line NIIEG, Bacillus cereus АТСС 10702 and Bacillus anthracis STI-1 spores. We have revealed potentiating effect of nanoparticles of metal oxides, expressed in enhancing the bactericidal and sporicidal activity of the disinfectant compositions with a lower content of their constituent ingredients. Stability of aqueous solutions of colloidal metal oxide nanoparticles is characterized by a high value of the zeta potential (ζ–potential) greater than 20 mV. The surface charge of nanoparticles of metal oxides increases the polarization of some intramolecular bonds in Catamine AB, resulting in the manifestation of synergy between the cations of Catamine AB and nanoparticles in dispersed phase and enhances the biocidal properties of the mixed solutions.
Key words: bactericidal activity, sporicidal activity, disinfectant, nanoparticles, zeta potential.

Investigation of Blattella germanica resistance to pyrethroids

In several cockroaches Blattella germanica subpopulations we found tolerance (3–13×) and high resistance (140–4000 ×) to pyrethroids. To all studied subsets cockroaches a statistically significant slowing the onset of poisoning symptoms upon contact with glass treated with cypermethrin in a dose of 5 µg/cm2, and three of five in contact with the dose of 20 µg/cm2. It was found repellent effect of pyrethroid baits, palatability of baits and depended on the food base. Resistant cockroaches, particularly females, were resistant to pyrethroid baits and mixtures thereof with other insecticides.
Key words: pyrethroids, German cockroach, Blattella germanica, topical resistance, bait ineffectiveness.

Study of german cockroach resistance to organophosphorus and carbamates insecticides

Some populations of German cockroaches Blattella germanica revealed resistance to chlorpyrifos (9,5–26,0×), tolerance to fenitrothion (3,1–7,1×), tolerance to propoxur (1,4–4,0×). For three of the six studied populations found a statistically significant slowing the onset of symptoms of poisoning by contact with the glass treated with chlorpyrifos (1,67–2,25×) for seven of the nine – propoxur (1,56-3,80×). Cockroaches from population M1 were resistant to the insecticide baits containing propoxur, chlorpyrifos, azamethiphos, and were susceptible to hydramethylnon baits. Resistant populations have mosaic distribution in the city – the highest resistance to OPs and carbamates exhibit German cockroaches in catering facilities, student dormitories, from medical organizations.
Key words: organophosphates, carbamates, German cockroach, Blattella germanica, topical resistance, bait.
