Ways of improvement of disinfection measures in acute respiratory viral infections

The review is devoted epidemiologically to the most significant acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI) and modern viruses − to agents of ARVI. Their short characteristic, data on survival on objects of the external environment, their sensitivity/stability to disinfectants is given. Data on disinfectants, active concerning different types of viruses are provided. Recommendations about improvement of disinfection actions at a ARVI in the medical organizations, organized collectives and other infectious centers taking into account mechanisms are made and the main ways of transfer of the infections caused by viruses, including insensitive (bocaviruses, rhinoviruses, enteroviruses) to disinfectants.
Keywords: causative agents of ARVI, susceptibility of viruses, disinfectants, virucidal activity, disinfection measures.

Research of decontamination activity of peroxosolvate silicon dioxide

This review is dedicated to acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI) of the highest epidemiological importance and modern viruses acting as ARVI pathogens. Brief description of their characteristics, information concerning their survival rate on the objects of external environment and their sensitivity/resistance to disinfectants are given. The information about the disinfectants effective in various types of viruses is presented. The recommendations for the improvement of disinfection measures against ARVI in healthcare institutions, organized communities and other foci of infection with regard to the mechanisms and common routes of infections caused by viruses, including those viruses which have low sensitivity to disinfectants (rhinoviruses, bocaviruses, enteroviruses), are given.
Keywords: ARVI pathogens, sensitivity of viruses, disinfectants, virucidal activity, disinfection measures.

Quantitative determination of aldehydes in disinfectants

Currently, a large number of substances from different classes of chemical compounds are used for disinfection. One of the most common groups are aldehydes. The compounds of this series rapidly alkylate the amino-sulfhydryl and carboxyl groups of proteins, causing coagulation of the latter, which causes their activity against a wide range of microorganisms. Most often, glutaraldehyde, glyoxal and o-phthalaldehyde are used for the production of disinfectants. Disinfectants based on these compounds are widely used in many areas of health care – from gastroenterology, urology and cardiology to X-ray, laboratory and pharmacy premises. In this paper, modern methods for the analysis of aldehydes, most commonly used in analytical chemistry: titration with hydroxylamine hydrochloric acid and sodium bisulfite; high performance liquid chromatography of aldehyde derivatives with 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine; gas chromatography. Using glutaraldehyde as an example, a comparison of various methods has been performed to assess the possibility of using them for the analysis of disinfectants and their working solutions. The carried out researches have shown that the gas chromatographic method is the most universal for these purposes. For this method, the methods of quantitative determination of glutaraldehyde, glyoxal and o-phthalaldehyde were validated. A permanganatometric determination of the end point of titration was proposed for the bisulfite method for the determination of aldehydes.
Keywords: aldehydes, disinfectants, titration, high-performance liquid chromatography, gas chromatography.

The structure of the population of small mammals in the Stavropol territory in 2015–2017

Population structure of small mammals in the Stavropol Territory in 2015–2017. Epizootological monitoring was carried out while ensuring epidemiological surveillance of natural focal infections. The results of surveys of small mammals were analyzed in various landscapes of the Stavropol Territory: in three provinces of the Ciscaucasia plains and in the landscapes of the foothills of the Greater Caucasus. representatives of the families Cricetidae, Muridae, Soricidae and Gliridae were captured. in most of the territories, the Ural field mouse (Apodemus uralensis) prevailed in the population structure of MM – from 40 to 80 %, in the semi-desert landscapes of Ciscaucasia – the house mouse (Mus musculus) – 74 %. From 9 to 32 % of all captured MMs in various landscapes fall on the bushmen. In addition to these MM in the Stavropol Territory, the common shrew (Sorex araneus) and the lesser shrew (Crocidura suaveolens), the forest dormouse (Dryomys nitedula) are noted.
Keywords: epizootological monitoring, small mammals, Herb Wood Mouse, Striped Field Mouse, House Mouse, Microtus.
