Incorrect use of detergents, despite the relative safety of their individual components, can have an adverse effect on humans. The toxicity of residual quantities of detergent was studied on rats with its intragastric administration in doses of 2.5–0.0025 mg/kg per day for 3 months. The doses were selected taking into account the permissible content of surfactants in water (0.5 mg/l). After 3 months, the rat blood serum was analyzed for alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase, lactate dehydrogenase, cholinesterase, creatine phosphokinase, glucose, total protein, albumin, urea, creatinine, total bilirubin, cholesterol, low- and high-density lipoproteins (LDL and HDL), triglycerides, and phospholipids. The liver was histologically examined, internal organs were pathomorphologically examined, and their mass coefficients were determined. The detergent in the maximum tested doses of 2.5 mg/kg and 0.25 mg/kg caused an increase in ALT activity and changes in lipid metabolism: the detergent in a dose of 2.5 mg/kg caused a decrease in LDL and HDL, while in a dose of 0.25 mg/kg it caused only a decrease in HDL. Histopathological studies revealed destruction of the blood vessel walls, for all groups in varying degrees of severity. Signs of protein dystrophy and minor cicatricial changes of the liver predominated in rats that received the detergent in the highest doses (2.5 mg/kg and 0.25 mg/kg).

Disinfectology Institute of the Federal Scientific Center of Hygiene named after F.F. Erisman of Rospotrebnadzor: 117246, Moscow, Nauchny proyezd, 18, Russian Federation.

An experimental evaluation of the effectiveness of a combined method for disinfecting swimming pool water was conducted. Using test strains of spore- and non-spore-forming microorganisms as an example, it was found that the combined effect of ultraviolet radiation and hydrogen peroxide ensures their effective inactivation. Thus, treatment of water containing 0.01 % hydrogen peroxide with ultraviolet radiation led to complete inactivation of E. coli within 20 minutes. When exposed to UV radiation and 0.1 % hydrogen peroxide, the death of S. aureus in water was observed within 2 minutes. Inactivation of B. cereus spores by a combined method was achieved with a hydrogen peroxide content of 0.1 % in water and an exposure time of 45 minutes. The dose of UV radiation required for photolysis of hydrogen peroxide contained in water in a 0.1 % solution was 6888.8 J/cm2, and in a 0.01 % solution of PV – 4477 J/cm2. Ultraviolet radiation in combination with hydrogen peroxide is an effective method of disinfecting water from spore- and non-spore-forming forms of microorganisms, also ensuring the complete decomposition of hydrogen peroxide contained in water.
Keywords: swimming pool, water, combined disinfection method, hydrogen peroxide, ultraviolet radiation, test microorganism, efficiency.

New insecticides: study of intestinal effect on synanthropous insects

V.V. Olifer, O.Yu. Eremina

Institute of Disinfectology of the Federal Scientific Center of Hygiene named after F.F. Erisman of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing: 117246, Russian Federation, Moscow, Nauchniy proezd, 18a.

The insecticidal properties of food baits based on four compounds were studied: fluralaner (isoxazolines), ethiprole (phenylpyrazoles), cyantraniliprole (diamides) and indoxacarb (oxadiazines) for males and females of the German cockroach of the susceptible S-NIID culture, the multiresistant M10 strain and the housefly of the susceptible S-NIID strain. For both cultures of the German cockroach, high efficiency of baits of 0.2–0.5 % fluralaner was demonstrated, providing 95–100 % efficiency on the 2nd day of the experiment, which indicates the possibility of its use in medical disinsection. The bait based on 0.5 % cyantraniliprole provided 95 % efficiency for the S-NIID culture on the 1st day of the experiment against male German cockroaches, however, females were more resistant and 80.0 ± 9.2 % of individuals died after 7 days. The bait had similar efficiency for the M10 culture, indicating the absence of cross-resistance. Consumption of the bait by houseflies for 24 hours provided efficiency of 98.3 ± 1.2 %. The bait based on 0.5 % indoxacarb is highly effective against the S-NIID German cockroach and the multiresistant M10 culture, providing after 2 days the death of 85–100 % and 80–95 % of insects, respectively. The effect of the bait on houseflies was somewhat slower and after 48 hours it provided the death of 89.4 ± 2.5 % of insects. Baits based on 0.05–0.07 % ethiprole did not show sufficient efficiency against synanthropic insects. For cockroaches of the S-NIID culture, 50 % mortality was achieved for males and females on the 4th day, and 95 % mortality was achieved only for males on the 7th day of the experiment. Ethiprole was not effective against the multiresistant culture of the German cockroach M10, and was low against the housefly. When counting after 72 hours, the mortality of adult flies when eating bait based on 0.05 % ethiprole was 35.8 ± 4.3 %, based on 0.07–66.7 ± 4.1 %. High resistance of females of both sensitive and resistant cultures of the German cockroach was revealed. For houseflies, all baits were highly effective except the ethiprole-based bait.
Keywords: Blattella germanica, Musca domestica, fluralaner, ethiprole, cyantraniliprole, indoxacarb, baits, resistance.

Updated collection of test strains viruses and bacteria of the Institute of disinfectantology F.F. Erisman federal scientific centre of hygiene of Ropotrebnadzor, as an important tooi for increasing efficiency of modern disinfectant agents and medical technologies

The article discusses the state of the collection of test strains of viruses and bacteria at the Institute of Disinfection and the need to update the existing collection. It is known that the main requirements for test strains are their intended purpose, availability for testing, accuracy, and reproducibility of results. Currently, not all test strains meet these requirements, which suggests a change in the methodological approaches to their selection. Bacteria strains from the ESCAPE pathogen group, which have a high level of resistance to disinfectants, can be considered promising candidates for assessing the bactericidal activity and effectiveness of disinfection agents and technologies in medical organizations. Due to the significant limitation of the use of the polio virus in the next 5–10 years, in accordance with the WHO Global Action Plan, the poliovirus test strain (LSc2ab vaccine strain), which is currently used to assess the virucidal activity of disinfectants, as well as to control water disinfection by photocatalysis, requires replacement. in the first case, non-polio enteroviruses, in the second, including monitoring the effectiveness of air disinfection, bacteriophages, in particular phages with single-stranded RNA. Improving the methods of assessing disinfection agents and technologies using new test strains of viruses and bacteria with optimal target characteristics will allow for higher-level disinfection expertise, providing competitive advantages to conscientious manufacturers in the product market, and improving the quality of medical care in healthcare facilities, leading to a decrease in infectious diseases and overall reduction of biological risks.
Keywords: test strains of microorganisms, working collection, viruses, bacteria, disinfectants, medical technologies.

The obtained data on zoological surveillance over small mammal population of three stationary observation posts located in the Khabarovsk krai and epidemiologically significant objects of the of the Khabarovsk city are presented. Meteorological conditions of the year 2024 were mostly favorable for small mammals in the surveyed territory. At the same time, changes of dominant and codominant species were noted in different observation posts. Positive reproductive rates of non-dominant animal species recorded in 2024 give reason to assume that the number of small mammals in all surveyed posts of the Khabarovsk krai will increase by 5–15 %. No changes is small mammals population is expected in the Lazo district of the Khabarovsk krai or it might increase by 5–15 %.
Keywords: small mammals, natural focal infections, surveillance over population status, Khabarovsk krai, non-dominant species.
